Day 8

11.15 AM

Less than a week more. YIPEE! I think I'll stop a day earlier instead of the fourth. I have Course Advising on that day and I need to get soem stuff done. Write more later.

2.01 PM

I'm bored, and one of the Giant staff just asked me to remove the computer table because the said computer was not working. If we had enough stock in the first place this wouldn't have happened. You see, dear readers, we'd kept the table behind the stock behind the display much earlier, and had put the table legs up, so yes, it was NOT a pretty sight, but no one would have noticed if we had enough stock in the first place. What's done is done, I suppose.

I met Pearley Che-che and had a nice chat with her.

I want a break NOW! My legs feel like they're about to give way. Sales are SLOW. I could probably make a snail move faster. Speaking of which, I nearly lost the notebook I was using to keep boredom at bay. I l'd left it on a container that had the same shade of gray as the notebook. *^_^*

I'm so sleepy!

Day 7

8.55 AM

Honda is having a product launch and news conference from 10 till 1. Unfortunately, that's the time I work, so I don't get to see how things turn out. *Screams* It all looks pretty spiffy though, and the carpet in which there are circles and the cars are in them speaks of either long-range planning or just good preparation.

I really pity the models though. They have nice outfits, but it's COLD. It's interesting that all the models look like typical China dolls; long, straight hair and fringe.

10.58 AM

Giant has cats. Not one, but TWO. They have CATS. I thought I was hallucinating the other day when I saw a cat run through the hallaway. A cat! Okay, sorry if I seem hysterical, btu I didn't get much sleep last night, and it shows, okay? I meowed to the cat. I meowed it! (Yes I know I shouldn't have played BG2, but I really wanted to see how Anomen's romance developed!)

2.35 PM

It really does take all kinds to make the world go round. I just met a woman who was not only nice, but generous as well. She said that she was the owner/manufacturer for some of the more expensive and delicious F&B products in the world, and she 'treated' me to one. It was a little odd, but I'm not sure whether she was sane. But she was NICE. She was a really nice person.

Day 6

10.54 AM

There's nothing more satisfying than making kids smile and enjoying their laughter. Of course, selling them some stuff is good too, but that's like just an added layer of glaze on a delicious piece of biscuit. I just met a mother with two beautiful daughters, a pair of maids and their Caucasian charge, and a pair of Malay-tudunged women with a cute little boy in tow. The kids were all adorable!

The little girl (3) reminded me of myself when I was her age. She was energetic yet shy. => All the Malay boy wanted was a drink, and the Caucasian boy surprisingly loved soya milk. @_@ I suppose it really does take all kinds of people to make the world go round.

One of the perks of working on a weekday morning is that you can find a lot of little ones running around and it's so much fun!

11.10 AM

For some reason, you rarely hear of missing children in hypermarkets within malls like Jusco and the like. Yet when they stand on their own like Tesco, you hear them constantly. One wonders what they are doing.

11.41 AM

I took a quick break, and while reading House Corrino, my new co-worker, found me. Eeep! In any case I told him more of what I told him yesterday, and he finally got the message. I'm tempted to take the stock myself, because I'm bored.

On a side note: My writing seems to be flowing well.

4.40 PM

Lots of work done; shelves rearranged and displays stocked, not to mention we just received more sampling stock. It's rather quiet now, and I've thought up more ideas for Kurama. *Grins and watches as Kurama shivers in fear*

Good night!

Apology

Really sorry for the delayed update, but my father seemed determined that I not be back before eight on the weekend. Stupid idiot. Will try and update as much as I can. Sorry about it, people. Parents are being jerks. Again.

Day 5

11.43 AM

As usual, I punched in early, and finished setting up by 10, 10.10 (according to my watch). The music played really wrecked emotions, so much so that  I ended up calling Nick.

12.02 PM

There are more customers coming in and out, but they are the determined types ones, the ones who already know what they want and are merely looking for it. As for me, I'm just trying to stave off boredom. Have a few story ideas and am going to write it down later.

1.28 PM

Co-worker went out for lunch, and is taking her time to come back. Write more soon.

Day 4

1.30 PM

Came into work about 11.30, 11.20 (depending on whose watch you're looking at)  and immediately went to work. Rearranged the shelves, took out some stock, and am now... Never mind. I passed a rather cute mosquito on the way  (you know, the one from the Mortein Knockdown ad). The insect was cute, the guy not. :)

5.15 PM

Ahhhh! Finally, I've sat down after what. 3 hours of standing? Of course, I didn't stand straight. I walked around, rearranged stock.... I suppose I didn't like having someone standing over me. Am now having lunch witn Nick. Will go back to work a little later and hope my legs don't give out! :)

Day 3

9.23 AM

Just taking a few minutes to sit down and write before I begin work. Earlier at breakfats my brother suggested that I use Counterpain for my legs. Now, why didn't I think of that earlier? *knocks head against wall* Going to work now.

12.05 PM

Am taking a quick break to erst my legs. They still hurt from yesterday, but it's better today. Of course, I have no idea how I'm going to get through the next six hours. I think it's time for me to get back to work. My legs are getting to comfy and that's not a good sign.

2.05 PM

Ouch! Aaaaahhhhh.... My legs are finally getting the rest they deserve. I'm eating pizza from Arena with one of the other promoters. Today was one of those days, but Idread tomorrow. Finished at six, as usual.

Second day...

9.30 AM

That stupid, idiotic man who passes himself off as the family chauffer (NOT my bf!) dropped me off at 9.20 tjis morning. Not wanting to begin so early, I walked around the place. Am now heading to work, feeling very sleepy.

10.33 AM

What? It's ten-thirty already? I haven't my so-called colleague during the whole time I was setting up. I wonder what she was up to. But then again, she went hunting for the knife and even brought a chopping board to cut up the honeydew. The main prob now is the ice box. How do I keep the ice from melting?

12.24 PM

The honeydew-milo-Soyrich mix was not quite what everyone expected. Some loved it, some didn't. I guess my colleague was right. We decided to drop the milo after all. Am now walking to the toilet. Indigestion.

2.33 PM

I want something fried for lunch!

2.46 PM

I got my wish. It's McDonald's Crispy Prawn Burger. And someone finally gave me a ball to drop in the box. Good, no? The burger isn't too bad, but the lettuce spoils it. Not nice at all!

4.24 PM

One and a half hour more to go! Finally I can go home soon!

6.05 PM

Some people are just lazy... My colleague told one of the other promoters that it was okay not to help me, and to let me handle bringing in the stuff on my own. I wonder if it had something to do with me ordering her about earlier.

Good night!

Back to work after a long time...

Today is my first day back at work since the CNY promotions in January. It's a new stint at Giant One Utama, and I can only hope that the rest of the stint will be better than today. Wanna know what happened?

9.50 AM

So there I was, freezing my hands off waiting for my merchandiser (i.e. my colleague) to show up. I walked around a bit, felt like a fool and a sore thumb because I stood out with my red T. As if that was not enough, I found out that the staff entrance was at the other end from where I'd come in. So it was a long walk over there. Thank God (literally) there was a shop selling coffee nearby. I bought a can of Nescafe. I felt so much more energetic! Unfortunately, it still means that I need to go back to sleep after posting this. My body is protesting.

10.00 AM

I found myself at the staff entrance, waiting while writing my notes. What was scary was that the stairway and the entrance leading towards the staff entrance was lonely and the stairway dark. It reminded me of the first time I worked for this company. I'm going to call them if they don't appear soon.

10.10 AM

Isn't there someone here? Someone save me from boredom!

10.15 AM

I called my supervisor, and I am now looking for my colleague.

11.04 AM

Okay, so I found them, (supervisor and colleague), and now we are all walking towards the staff entrance. To prepare for the promotion, we took the current batch apart and waited for the contractor to show up with my sampling stock and the rest of the promotional items.

Few minutes later...

Am now wasting time with the suppliers. So far I've been hit on by some of the other staff (from the company)... The two Malay guys seem like they've never spoken to a female before. (If Baldy's attitude is anything to go by, I can understand why. HAM SAP!)

11.36 AM

I actually meant the above comment in jest, but now I think I really believe it. He's scary, making weird faces at me and trying to sit next to me and all... I won't be seeing him again after this (Thank YOU, FATHER!) but then again... *goes off to ponder sexual harrasment cases that have been lain dormant because it happened quickly and the perp disappears from life soon*

12.10 PM

I am so bored! We're waiting for the contractor, who is NOWHERE in sight!

1.51 PM

Just came back from lunch (not too bad) to find out that the guys had had free lunch. The good thing is that I didn't have that guy on my shoulder. *Phew!* Still waiting for the contractor.

2.02 PM

Look above.

2.13 PM

I decide to go and take some price checks. I have a list in my book, but I don't think I'll write them down. No ads here.

3.23 PM

A lot of my friends called me. We're finally getting things done! Contractor's here!

5.48 PM

All done! YIPEE! But my leg is giving out. Ouch!

Good night! *sleeps*

Wednesday, July 21, 2004

I got streamyx! I got streamxy!

*Throws confetti into the air*

That's all I have to say.

Good night.

Amazing Race 5

As anyone who knows me will tell you, I'm a sucker for the Amazing Race. It's a race around the world for one million dollars. What I really like about this season's show was the inclusion of a 'little person.' First, she blew me away with her enthusiasm.

Then she proved just how capable she was. Don't believe me? Check out the first episode where they had to carry a piece of beef. Her cousin couldn't carry it (should have carried it over the shoulder) but she did and she carried it all the way past the butchers and AN EXTRA four blocks! Wow!

Chala, I'm rooting for you! :)

See ya all soon! :)

Stupidity

Anyone who has read the papers yesterday will know what I'm talking about. It's about the murder of a law student (wonder why the papers are harping on this) who was senselessly murdered because he tried to defend his fiancee. I'm talking about Darren Kang. The youths who killed him should be killed themselves. They are youths, just like he was, and I see no reason to let them live.

This was what happen: He had gone out with his fiancee for a late supper. Complaining that he was walking slowly, he said to his fiancee that he would only walk faster if she said "I love you" very loudly. She did, and they were then treated to jeers, boos and wolfwhistles. He got up and confronted, or rather talked to the youths and told them to stop.

I for one, don't see what the problem was. It's one thing if they let you go on teasing them, but if they ask you to stop, then do. You're only embarrassing yourself if you don't. But they got angry and beat the guy to death. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY?

Just goes to show you that our Education system is NOT turning out "fine examples" but monsters.

Write more on this later. I'm getting emotional.
